ITMS Signs Top German Golfer Tina Fischer
(Bad Nauheim, Germany. February 25, 2002 ) –
ITMS Sports, a subsidiary of ITMS Marketing, announced today the signing of
Germany’s top women’s golfer Tina Fischer to a full management
agreement. Fischer, the 8th ranked European on the American Tour, carved a
niche on the international golf landscape by winning the final regular event
of the 2001 LPGA Tour season, the 1.2 Million Dollar Asahi Ryokuken International
Championship at Mount Vintage, South Carolina.
“To win the last event of the season and earn the LPGA Tour card for the next three years is just wonderful,“ said Tina Fischer. “I can now play more relaxed and focus on getting more consistency into my game. All the right ingredients are in place for an even better 2002. I'm looking forward to the new season and happy to go into this next phase with ITMS who possesses the experience and dedication that match my own.”
"We are very pleased to have the opportunity to represent Tina, perhaps the best women's golfer in German history," said ITMS president George Pascal. "Tina certainly struck a blow for the women's game with her remarkable win at Mount Vintage but her well earned prestige lies also in her perseverance and style as a true ambassador of women's professional sports."
Fischer, 31, was a 12-time National German Amateur champion, five-time National champion and a 10-year member of the Woman’s National Team. In 1994, she was the International European Amateur champion, International Austrian Amateur champion and the low amateur at the Weetabix Women’s British Open.
Fischer, who has a degree in landscape architecture, turned professional in 1995 and went on to win her first professional title, a year later, at the McDonald’s WPGA Championship of Europe at Gleneagles, one of the leading tournaments on the European Tour. She earned her second professional victory on the Asian Tour by winning the Indonesian Ladies Open in 1998, and followed with a third title at the Mexx Sport Dutch Open in 2000.
